Electronics Engineer
Work Location: Hook, Hampshire, UK
We are looking for an organised and technically skilled team member to join the EDMI hardware team and play a key role in defining, designing, testing, validating and certifying EDMI products from the early conception of the products until the readiness for mass production. As Electronics Engineer, you will be the owner of the electronics design and will ensure that all requirements are fulfilled.
Responsibilities:
  • Regularly report to the Hardware Manager on the progress of the design and the associated risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies
  • Interface with other members of the team, both internally & externally to discuss layout, testing and compatibility with the mechanical design.
  • Working collaboratively with laboratories in order to qualify products
  • Possibility of mentoring 1-2 electronic graduates
  • Responsible for defining EDMI products including writing the hardware specification based on customer and internal requirements, interaction with different design teams and with the product manager.
  • Designing EDMI products including drawing schematics, selecting components and liaising with the layout engineer and mechanical team
  • Testing EDMI products including delivering and implementing a test plan of all electronic designs, writing test reports, visiting UK labs for pre-compliance testing and validating and certifying products
  • This role may include travel in the UK to labs and abroad to EDMI factories
Experience and Qualifications
  • Knowledge in analog electronic design with previous experience in linear or switched-mode power suppliers, component selection, PCB technology and RF design
  • Knowledge of instrumentation techniques
  • Experience in interfacing with suppliers and prototyping companies
  • Previous experience in certifying electronic/RF products for the European market (RED, LV, RoHS)
  • Experience in electronic manufacturing process (DFM, testing, automation)
  • Experience in quality processes
  • Experience in reliability design/tools (HALT, ALT, DFMEA)

Solutions Architect
Work Location: Hook, Hampshire, UK
We are looking for an action oriented and organised Solutions Architect Wireless Firmware Engineer to join the EDMI UK Technical team to provide technical leadership and design documentation to internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
  • To engage with UK Smart metering specifications and working groups and act as subject matter experts
  • Define and manage requirements for the development teams
  • Deliver specifications for development and test
  • Develop documentation to support development, including architecture and detailed design
  • Review and sign off test cases and results delivered by the test teams
  • Provide issue resolution solution support to development team, customers and industry
Experience and Qualifications
  • Experience with AMI meter deployments involving remote communications.
  • Experience with advanced tariff and data profile systems including prepayment.
  • Experience with UK smart metering specifications; GBCS, CPA, Zigbee, DLMS
  • Experienced in creating product specifications across all aspects of creating such a smart metering products.
  • Detailed knowledge of the software components involved, and how to architect and specify for the broader development team.
  • Proven ability to create clear, unambiguous documentation, and to coach peers and reporting resources in how to deliver high quality documentation.

Wireless Firmware Engineer

We are looking for an action oriented Wireless Firmware Engineer to join the EDMI UK Development team in designing and developing the wireless firmware used in EDMI’s Smart Metering Product range. Supporting the Software Director, Development team colleagues and System Test Engineers, you will be given responsibility from day one and start working on live projects to apply your existing knowledge and skills.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the full life cycle development on the EDMI Smart Metering product range including, but not limited to, design, maintenance, configuration management peer code inspection & task creation and tracking
  • You will hold responsibility for developing and maintaining the wireless technologies used in the EDMI Smart Metering range including stack and application code
  • Participating and leading in interoperability testing and test events
  • To understand secure coding techniques to ensure the product range meets the required industry standards for the relevant certifications and approvals
Essential Experience and Qualifications
  • A degree or higher qualification in a relevant subject
  • 5 -10 years of Embedded C programming
  • Good working knowledge of embedded RTOS
  • Previous experience of low level embedded processor/microcontroller
  • Previous experience and knowledge of secure coding, MISRA
  • Knowledge of wireless technologies (ZigBee, Bluetooh, 3GPP, IoT) and of ZigBee Smart Energy

Reporting to the Technical Director, you will be working with team leads across the business to create development tasks, assign to team members and track their progress ensuring the product range meets the required industry standards for the relevant certifications and approvals.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the full life cycle development on the smart metering range including requirement analysis, design, development, maintenance, continuous integration, configuration management and peer code inspection.
  • Developing and maintaining firmware platform components including RTOS, Drivers, Encryption Engines, Communication Stacks and Metering Engines
  • Understanding secure coding techniques to ensure the product range meets the required industry standard for the relevant certifications and approvals
