Roy Kirsopp is appointed Group CEO in July 2022.

Roy joined EDMI in 2018 as the General Manager (New Energy) of EDMI Europe. In 2020, he was promoted to Group Sales Director responsible for global alignment of products and solutions, strategic market and brand positioning, marketing and sales pipeline management. In his role as Group Sales Director, he made a number of improvements to the operational transformation that led to building the most effective organisation to support the company’s strategy.

Prior to joining EDMI, Roy has over 30 years of experience in sales, marketing and product management spanning multiple industries such as energy, telecoms, media and technology.

Roy holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Electronics degree from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology.

As Group Chief Corporate Officer & Director, Takashi Uehara oversees the coordination of EDMI’s operating model globally. With his profound financial expertise, he ensures cohesive management and strategic alignment across the organisation, enhancing corporate governance and fostering investor confidence.

Previously as EDMI’s Chief Financial Officer, Takashi developed and executed strategies through strong financial management and processes, providing dedicated finance analysis and decision support to the management and key functions spanning commercial, operations, and manufacturing to ensure that business decisions are grounded in solid financial criteria.

With more than two decades of diverse expertise in finance, accounting and international taxation, Takashi leverages on his strong financial experience and deep familiarity with EDMI – having collaborated with the various stakeholders when he was with OSAKI in Japan, to continue EDMI’s strong financial execution.

Takashi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Commerce from Keio University in Japan.

Andrew Thomas is the Chief Strategy Officer & Director for EDMI Group. He is responsible for Product & Solution strategy, Marketing, Strategic Investment, and Strategic Sales & Operational Planning.

During his recent tenure as Chief Commercial Officer, Andrew has had a significant influence on the optimisation of EDMI’s product portfolio and alignment of strategies across our sales regions. He also served as Executive Director of EDMI ANZ between July 2013 and October 2022. As the regional head, he contributed significantly to the growth of the EDMI business through the leadership of the business during the Australian Power of Choice rollout, including the development and ongoing operation of the EDMI Energy Cloud and AMI 2.0 Solution. He has led EDMI’s entry into the Smart Gas and Smart Water Solutions market, through successful development and incubation of global offerings in the ANZ market.

Andrew’s career has grown with EDMI through two 10-year engagements in the organisation. He has added a wealth of international metering and technology knowledge to this EDMI heritage via stints in the UK, Singapore and Australia in metering and IoT fields. Andrew has succeeded in a wide range of disciplines during his career including R&D, project delivery, sales and marketing and strategic leadership.

Andrew holds a first class Honours Degree in Engineering from the University of Queensland, where he was awarded a University medal and is currently studying a Master of Business Administration.

As Chief Financial Officer for EDMI Group, Willem Hoogers leads the evolution of finance teams globally to deliver transparent financial forecasts and outcomes.

Before this role, Willem served as Managing Director for EDMI Europe, responsible for the development of the UK and Europe region’s strategy and execution of its priorities in continuing to drive above-market growth in the region while expanding its portfolio of offerings. Prior to that, he was Finance Director at EDMI Europe, responsible for all aspects of the finance function.

Willem brings a wealth of global manufacturing and commercial leadership experience, and a deep passion and strong background in finance to his role, having spent over 25 years in varied key management positions in the electronics manufacturing and energy sectors.

Willem holds a Master of Science in Economics from the Tilburg University in the Netherlands.

Ivan Barron as Chief Technology Officer leads in developing EDMI’s technologies and technical capabilities, and is responsible for setting the Group’s technology direction.

Since joining EDMI in 1994, Ivan has been a significant contributor to EDMI’s main product lines, leading product development teams to create the ranges of smart meters, and cementing his credentials as an international innovator. He is also active in the development of standards for metering at an Australian and IEC level, receiving the IEC 1906 Award in 2020.

Ivan holds an Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Queensland, Australia.

Ethel Yeo is Chief Legal Officer for EDMI Group, responsible for legal & compliance.

With over 20 years of experience in legal leadership, Ethel has held senior leadership roles that lead the in-house legal teams and has concluded significant transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, EMTN issuances, establishment of treasury centers, and various joint ventures. Her private practice experience includes roles as a senior associate and partner in corporate real estate practices at leading law firms.

Ethel holds dual degrees in Bachelor of Social Sciences in Japanese Studies and Bachelor of Law from the National University of Singapore. She is admitted to the Singapore Bar and is a member of the Singapore Law Society.

Irene Leng joined EDMI Limited as Vice President, Group Human Resources. Irene is responsible for envisioning the roadmap for HR, driving strategy and transforming HR to deliver forward-thinking capabilities. Irene and her team play a valuable role as a strategic partner and enabler in cultivating the foundation of our OneEDMI culture and employee experience that supports the company’s strategy and business needs. Irene is also responsible for upholding EDMI’s highest Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) standards and Corporate Social Responsibility to further develop a safe and socially accountable organization.

With over 20 years of diverse experience in varied industries, Irene participated and led organizations responsible for human resource management, loss prevention and facilities management, procurement, and office administration. She has also championed a number of major business and economic events, including merger and acquisition integration, organisational transformations, and on-going commercial partnership arrangements.

Irene holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies from University of East London.

Brett Reid is Managing Director for the APAC region.. In this role, he has the overarching accountability for Asia and ANZ region’s businesses and their outcomes.

Brett has held several senior leadership roles in the energy and technology sectors over an extensive career spanning 27 years. In his 14 years within the EDMI group, Brett has delivered significant value to both EDMI and its customers in senior leadership and executive level roles covering Strategy, Technology, Operations, Sales, and Product Management.

Brett holds a Higher National Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Durban University of Technology and also completed multiple programmes and certifications over his career covering Leadership, Management, Energy Management, Project Management, Agile and Product Management.

Michael Somersmith is the Managing Director of EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), responsible for planning sales strategy focused on creating new market values for customers and partners.

With over 20 years of experience in the smart energy and global metering market, Michael brings with him a wealth of knowledge, expertise and experience of market dynamics and technical requirements to drive the delivery of cutting-edge solutions and foster strong stakeholder relationships.

Previously, Michael was with EDMI from 2002 to 2019, holding various roles such as Technical Director for EDMI UK and R&D Manager for EDMI ANZ. He established the R&D site in the UK and developed SMETS2 products, leading key developments and deployments.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours from the University of Queensland.

Winson Chan is the Managing Director for Group Operations, responsible for Corporate Operations including Manufacturing, Outsource Management, Supply Chain Management, Quality Assurance and Engineering.

With over 30 years of broad-based experience in the Semiconductor, IT Computing and Medical industries, Winson has gained valuable international business exposure through expat assignments in the US and China. His result-driven leadership has enabled him to build peak-performing teams to achieve cross-functional business objectives.

Winson holds a first-class Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Science Malaysia, and was among the inaugural batch of Intel scholars.
