The Energy Transition

The shift from large scale, centralised generation to a grid reliant on more distributed, less predictable sources of energy has begun.  While moving to more renewable sources of energy can drive the opportunity to lower carbon emissions and deliver a positive climate impact, significant challenges are faced in making such a seismic switch.  How can the industry manage these new sources of energy while maintaining grid stability and customer affordability. Complicating things further is the significant increase in demand on networks driven by the electrification of transport and the increased energy needs of data centre investments spurred by the advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence applications.
