Work Location: Hook, Hampshire, UK Purpose:
  • C# Windows GUI Application development/maintenance.
  • Web API development.
  • Involved in the design and development of file based integration solutions for supply chain management.
  • Database management and reporting
  • You will be given responsibility and will start working on live projects, where you will apply your existing knowledge and skills.
  • Application support and maintenance including ad-hoc database reporting.
Reporting to: IT Manager
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for full life cycle development on the EDMI Smart Metering product range, including:
    • Requirement analysis
    • Design
    • Development
    • Maintenance
    • Peer code inspection
    • Task creation and tracking
  • You will develop software solutions for use in the EDMI Smart Metering product range, systems integration, triage tool Chain and business facing systems.
  • You will be required and supported to meet ‘secure’ coding techniques to ensure the product range meets the required industry standards for the relevant certifications and approvals.
Experience & Qualifications: Essential:
  • Good working knowledge of .NET Framework/Core.
  • Working knowledge and possible direct experience of SQL preferably MySQL.
  • Relevant experience and/or (Computer Science/Electronic Engineering)
Desirable:
  • Common data interchange formats XML/CSV etc.
  • Web API development experience.
  • Message Protocol Parsers/Codecs.
  • Agile software development.
  • Appreciation of ‘good’ coding styles.
  • ‘SVN’ or other source control experience.
  • SAP Database Management/Support for Invoicing

  • This role is part of the EDMI UK Development team based in Hook.
  • You will be involved in the design and development of the platform firmware used in the EDMI Smart Metering product range.

  • You will understand secure coding techniques to ensure the product range meets the required industry standards for the relevant certifications and approvals, relating
Essential:
  • Degree/equivalent experience or higher in a relevant subject.
  • 2 -10 years of Embedded C programming.
  • Good working knowledge of embedded RTOS.
  • Low level embedded processor/microcontroller experience with use of debug tool chains
  • Process driven mindset
  • Familiarity with Agile principles
  • Comfortable with processor hardware and associated communication peripherals
  • Secure coding, eg. MISRA or Static Analysis rule checking
  Desirable:
  • Design and development of low power systems.
  • Smart metering experience (DLMS, GBCS, ZigBee Smart Energy).
  • Agile software development.
  • Wireless technologies (ZigBee, Bluetooth, 3GPP, IoT).
  • Experience with eclipse based IDEs
  • Where desirable experience is lacking EDMI will support internal and external training, a desire to learn is essential

Principal Embedded Firmware Engineer / Team Lead
Work Location: Hook, Hampshire, UK
  • To be the technical team lead for the Firmware Development Team- to support EDMI Smart Metering product range.
  • Role is part of the EDMI UK Development team based in Hook.
  • You will be involved in the design and development of the platform firmware used in the EDMI Smart Metering product range.
  • You will support firmware Project Management development tracking and status as part of the Agile development process. This involves working with team leads to create development tasks; assignment to team members and progress tracking.
  • From day one you will be given responsibility and will start working on live projects, where you will apply your existing knowledge and skills.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Firmware Team
  • Maintain the focus and direction of the team’s activities
  • Provide technical guidance to the team
  • Lead the daily Scrum meetings
  • Be the primary interface between the scrum team and stakeholders
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for full life cycle development on the EDMI Smart Metering product range, including:
    • Requirement analysis
    • Design
    • Development
    • Maintenance
    • Continuous integration
    • Configuration management
    • Peer code inspection
    • Task creation and tracking
    • Team Mentoring and recruitment
    • Lead programmes and features within defined timescales, budget and content
 
  • You will develop and maintain firmware platform components shared across the whole family of EDMI Smart Metering products including RTOS, Drivers, Encryption engines, Communication Stacks and Metering Engines.
 
  • You will understand secure coding techniques to ensure the product range meets the required industry standards for the relevant certifications and approvals
 
  • You will be able to exhibit previous experience of leading team members in S/W delivery programmes
