Te Kuiti-based networking specialists, The Lines Company, has looked to EDMI NZ Limited (EDMI) to deliver flexible and robust solutions for their network wide roll out of smart metering in New Zealand.
Brent Norriss, CEO The Lines Company, a firm advocate of demand based pricing, wants to help his customers understand how engineering requirements and their supply charges are linked.
The Lines Company will begin expanding the project scale before the end of the third quarter 2013. They will work with EDMI to deliver the new technology to the largest network area in New Zealand without a major urban center.
“We can only do this with the right metering technology and we are excited to work with EDMI on this project,” said Mr Norriss.
This announcement follows a successful pilot that involved EDMI’s advanced smart meters, with GPRS communications and inbuilt ripple receivers.
During the pilot, The Lines Company also trialed new In Home Displays. These customer information devices communicate over ZigBee RF technology and let consumers make more sustainable energy choices by helping them understand their electrical usage behavior.
Anak Lumb, General Manager of EDMI NZ Limited said, “Working with The Lines Company has been a great experience for EDMI. The Lines Company have had some very specific and innovative technical requirements which made use of the full feature set and flexibility that EDMI’s meter platform offers. The constructive engagement we had with The Lines Company has meant we have gotten the best out of our technology.”
