EDMI selected to provide Communications Hub for Smart Meter rollout

EDMI has been selected as the preferred supplier of the Communications Hub to Arqiva.

Arqiva have been selected as the preferred bidder as the Communications Service Provider (CSP) for the northern region as part of the rollout of smart meters in Great Britain, subject to contract. The smart meter rollout will aim to install 53 million meters in 30 million homes and small businesses across the UK by 2020.

EDMI will be responsible for the design, manufacture and supply of the communications hub. The hub will enable communication with electricity meters, gas meters, and the in-home display allowing consumers to effectively monitor and manage energy usage.
